Some will have seen the article in the Herald (10 June) about the diocesan financial problems. There are some mistakes in the report in the paper. However, as reported in Southern Cross, because of its investment strategy, which brought great gains in a rising market, the diocese has also seen large losses in the falling market. There are some hard questions being asked about what lessons have been learned and so on.
For the present, it would be worth reading Archbishop Jensen’s letter to parishes if you want to know more…

A good post by Tim Challies on the danger of tolerating the small sins in your life…

From Justin Taylor: Andy Naselli–a PhD student at TEDS under Don Carson and his full-time research assistant–has spent several months compiling a list for The Gospel Coalition of everything Carson has published.

It’s broken down into five categories:

  1. Books
  2. Articles
  3. Reviews
  4. Lyrics
  5. Edited Series

Incredibly, this includes 334 free PDFS (fully searchable–and retaining original publication pagination!) Seven of the PDFs are entire books. You’ll undoubtedly discover things you didn’t know about…

What a gift Dr. Carson has given to the church, and what a gift Andy has given us in the countless hours devoted to making these available for free.

But there are several of his points which will give room for a Christian to think Scripturally about his or her situation. So I think it’s worth noting in the present climate just in case…

Al Mohler reflects on the murder of an infamous American doctor who performed late-term abortions.

“The cold-blooded murder of Dr. George Tiller on Sunday morning presents the pro-life movement in America with a crucial moral test — will we condemn this murder in unqualified terms?…”
