St Michael’s 150th Celebrations
Reflect & Connect: 1859 – 2009
Join us as we celebrate our cathedral’s 150th birthday this December!
Sunday 13 December
Our birthday party begins with ringing our bell 150 times at 12 noon. Then the entire Wollongong community is invited to share our festival birthday celebrations. It will feature musical entertainment (including brass band and organ recital), Devonshire tea, sausage sizzle, historical displays and tours, jumping castles, fairy floss, memorabilia, give-aways, second-hand book and CD sale, and more.
As like every Sunday, visitors are welcome to our anniversary Sunday services:
- 8am – Heritage BCP Service, preacher: Bishop Harry Goodhew
- 10am – Morning Service, precher: Bishop Harry Goodhew
- 5pm – Family Service, preacher: Dr Richard Chin
- 7pm – Contemporary Service, preacher: Dr Richard Chin
Tuesday 15 December
This is the actual date on which our heritage-listed ‘church on the hill’ was consecrated 150 years ago in December 1859.
- 6pm – Refreshments and fine music
- 7pm – Thanksgiving Service, preacher: Bishop Reg Piper
