Speaker: Richard Chin “Dean Cowper in light of Eternity”
‘Mac’ Cowper was the first Australian-born clergyman to serve the colony, born 200 years ago in July 1810. At various times he was Acting Principal of Moore College, Rector of St Philip’s Sydney, and Archdeacon and Dean of Sydney. He was much loved for his piety and kindness. This lecture gives a special insight into the Christianity of our colonial forebears. Speaker: Dr Peter Bolt. Firstly a New Testament lecturer, Peter Bolt has also developed an interest in Australian church history, writing fascinating biographies of Thomas Moore and Mac’s father, William Cowper. Peter also blogs at solapanel.org and edits the Australian Church Record. He has published a popular work, Living with the Underworld, Bible studies and academic works on Mark’s Gospel and co-edited the works of Donald Robinson.
